Chevy Trailblazer 6.0L Rear End Repair Information

Rear Control Arm Installation

The rear suspension of the Chevy Trailblazer consists of series of control arms which held support the axle and keep it attached to the vehicle. For this reason its always a good idea to use some loctite whenever messing around with rear control arm bolts. On both sides of the control arm there is a hole for a bolt to go through and a nut on the other side. You can tighten up these bolts and nuts to 80 ft-lbs. Along with the control arm there is a track bar and a torque bar which aid in vehicle suspension. The track bar fasteners can be tightened up to 89 ft-lbs while the torque bar can be tightened down to 96 ft-lbs.

Rear Differential Torque Specs

On the Chevy Trailblazer the ring gear bolts get tightened down to 95 ft-lbs. The rear carrier bearing caps can be tightened down to 80 ft-lbs. The differential drain plug should be tightened down to 24 ft-lbs. While the backing plate to the differential get tightened down to 30 ft-lbs.

Rear Shocks Installation

To replace the rear shocks on a Chevy Trailblazer you will need to remove two sets of bolts/nuts located at the bottom and top of the shock. Both of these fasteners can be accessed from underneath the vehicle by jacking it up and removing the wheel. To uninstall the old shock simply just remove both of the fasteners and the part will come out. When installing the new part reverse the procedure and tighten up the lower bolt to 62 ft-lbs and then the upper bolt to 22 ft-lbs.

Rear Stabilizer Bar Installation

The rear stabilizer bar on the Chevy Trailblazer consists of a series of brackets that hold it to the frame of the vehicle and a couple of endlink nuts that fasten it the the outer side of the car. To remove the swaybar you will need to jack up the front of the vehicle and remove both the endlink nuts as well as the brackets. To install the new swaybar you will need to move it back into the place as the old one and torque the axle sided nuts to 30 ft-lbs and then torque the frame bolts to 37 ft-lbs as well.
